M.S. Chocolate Thumbprints

Thumbprint Cookies

A friend of mine ask for the recipe. I think it is the chocolate that makes these cookies so good. 

Chocolate Thumbprint
1 Cup (2 Sticks) plus 6 T butter, room temperature
1 Cup Confectioners' Sugar
1/4 t Salt
2 t Vanilla
2 1/2 Cups flour (I only have white whole wheat flour)
6 ounces Semisweet Chocolate Disc



  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together 1 Cup butter, sugar, salt and vanilla on medium speed until smooth, about 2 minutes. Beat the flour, beginning on low speed and increasing to medium until combined.
  3. Scoop out cookies, then roll them into a ball. Place balls 1 inch apart on baking sheets. Press thumb into cookies to make deep, wide indentations. Add chocolate disc to each cookie. Bake for 10-12 minutes till brown on edges. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
*Next time I want to try adding peanut butter to the cookie recipe. Who can resist chocolate and peanut butter, right?!
